Two of my artworks Specks of Love 7 and Specks of Love 6 were selected for a virtual art exhibition during the IASD (International Association for the Study of Dreams)
International Association for the Study of Dreams annual conference… and the story behind them is wild.
Back in September 2024, I was visiting central Portugal when wildfires came terrifyingly close.
A few days before the fire, I had some really strange dreams.
In one, my body was covered in darkish scars.
In another, I was surrounded by a heavy, gray, fog-like substance.
My intuition whispered: “It’s time to go.”
But I didn’t listen.
I was too tired, too comfortable, too human.
Then the fires came. Real, fast, and unforgiving.
We all left just in time…
Later, when it was finally safe to return, I walked through the blackened landscape and gathered ashes from what had burned. Ashes of trees, plants, of what was. I mixed them with acrylics and painted.
It became a way to process the grief.
To honour what was lost.
To turn destruction into something meaningful.
Now, two of those pieces are part of this dream-themed exhibition—, since it all started with dreams I didn’t understand until later.
The moral of the story?
LISTEN TO YOUR INTUITION.
Even if it’s inconvenient or unclear.
Even if it doesn’t make logical sense.
Because sometimes your dreams DO know something you don’t.
